CATERING MANAGER

Job Title:               Catering Manager

Summary: SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Catering Manager at the Lynnwood Convention Center. The Catering Manager oversees all non-kitchen aspects of Food & Beverage and Bar operations at the Lynnwood Convention Center including direct supervision of Banquet Servers, Bartenders and Banquet Captains.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

On-site coordination and management of food and beverage functions

Interviews, trains, supervises, disciplines, and counsels food and beverage service staff

Plans, assigns, and schedules work in accordance with the event calendar

Develops and maintains training for both current and new hire programs focusing on superior service standards

Works with executive chef and sales team to help develop new menu selections and concepts including spirits

Develops and manages initiatives to improve the facility's food and beverage operations

Participation in and assistance in management of food and beverage budgetary goals

Manages all bar and concession operations

Manages the purchase and inventory of all alcohol

Oversees alcohol control policy and training

Develops and implements cash handling procedures and training

Ensures that the Lynnwood Convention Center meets the requirements of state and local health and liquor laws

Generates and maintains various reports and documentation

Helps to lead employee appreciation efforts for the facility

Ensures safe work practices for all service staff

Other projects and tasks as directed

Qualifications:

3-5 years of banquet/catering operations management experience required
Minimum of 3 years of supervising part-time service staff required
Previous experience with inventory management
Excellent knowledge of wines & spirits, especially NW regional selections
Ability to forecast labor accurately
Experience with cash handling management and procedures
Bachelors Degree in hospitality or related field preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple projects

Computer Skills:

General comfort and familiarity with computers and programs
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, outlook, excel, etc.)
Previous experience with Event management, Banquet management or CRM software required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Class 12 Alcohol server card, Food handlers card and first aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment

Banquet Server

SUMMARY:

Lynnwood Convention Center is a regional event facility located 30 minutes north of Seattle. We are seeking qualified banquet servers to join our experienced team of managers and servers. Applicants must have a passion for food and beverage along with the desire to deliver outstanding customer service. An ideal candidate will possess unparalleled service standards and have the ability to motivate all team members. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, team-building and problem-solving skills are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including, but not limited to the following)

  • Have basic food/bar knowledge
  • Understanding of flow of service
  • Experience with both plated and buffet service
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to servers
  • Ensure that all side work is completed at the end of each event
  • Uphold the standards and quality of Lynnwood Convention Center
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Work well with limited supervision 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Qualifications: (including, but not limited to the following)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in banquet food service and/or bartending
  • Work a flexible schedule based on events
  • Food handlers permit and Class 12 Liquor card required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and be able to stand for long periods of time

 Compensation:

 $12-14/hourly flat-rate, part-time, DOE

Dishwasher

JOB TITLE:  DISHWASHER

SUMMARY:

Lynnwood Convention Center is a regional event facility located 30 minutes north of Seattle. This position reports to the Executive Chef and the Sous Chef. Position is responsible for the cleanliness of small wares, utensils, all kitchen equipment, all flatware and glassware used by Food and Beverage Department as well as floor cleanliness and trash removal. Some basic food prep experience is expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including, but not limited to the following)

  • The washing and sanitizing of all flatware and glassware
  • The washing and sanitizing of all kitchen utensils, supplies and equipment
  • Maintains safety, sanitation and health code standards
  • Organize and re-stock all china, small wares, utensils, kitchen supplies and equipment
  • Maintains direct communication with kitchen staff, advising of inventory levels, breakage and proper operation of equipment
  • The washing, sanitizing and proper storage of all carts, racks, hot boxes and queen mary’s
  • Properly disposes of trash and recyclables in assigned places
  • Keep work area free of spills and food debris on floor
  • Follow proper guidelines for the safe and sanitary operation of the dish machine
  • Must have at least a basic understanding of food handling and preparation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Qualifications: (including, but not limited to the following)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to take direction and effectively perform the required work
  • Must have a pleasant personality and neat clean appearance
  • Must have a good command of verbal and written English
  • Must be able to work standing for the duration of shift
  • Must be able to lift and carry, according to industry standards
  • Must be able to withstand loud noise in the environment
  • Must have current food handlers permit

SUMMARY:

Lynnwood Convention Center is a regional event facility located 30 minutes north of Seattle. This position reports to the Executive Chef and the Sous Chef. Position is responsible for the expedition and proper preparation of all food products necessary for achieving a successful event. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including, but not limited to the following)

  • Plan, organize and prepare the production of all food products as assigned by the Chef/sous chef while following and maintaining the recipe standards as outlined and in accordance with the lynnwood convention center.
  • Ability to effectively see a project through from beginning to end including above guideline and proper station maintenance and clean up upon project conclusion.
  • Proper rotation of food products to include dating, labeling and storage. Ability to assess freshness and quality of food.
  • Must season and garnish all foods as per event requirements.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary working conditions and environment.
  • Attend and participate in Food Production meetings as instructed.
  • Perform all skilled labor as classification dictates.
  • Follow all rules and regulations of the lynnwood convention center.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Chef/Kitchen Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Qualifications:

  • Certification of course completion from an accredited culinary school, college or technical school; three or more years of hands on experience
  • Ability to use, maintain, and train others in the use of basic food service and kitchen equipment.
  • Must have skills in planning and organizing.
  • Must have the ability to work under general direction and a desire to learn.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to read write and understand English.
  • Strong analytical and mathematic skills in relation to the culinary profession and Food and Beverage industry.
  • Must have a pleasant personality and neat appearance.
  • Must have current food handlers permit.
